CFSC and CRFSC courses in St. John's
Looking for a Canadian firearms safety course in or near St. John's? Compare schedules and course formats, then verify current details with the provider before you reserve a seat.
What to ask a St. John's course provider
- Is the instructor currently authorized to deliver the CFSC, CRFSC, or both in Newfoundland and Labrador?
- Which course dates are available, and how much classroom time and practical testing is included?
- What is included in the total price: testing, materials, tax, and any retest?
- What should a student bring, and what accessibility accommodations can the provider support?
Taking the course in Newfoundland and Labrador
Newfoundland and Labrador's courses must be delivered by an instructor currently designated by the province's Chief Firearms Officer. Confirm this directly before booking.
The province's hunter education certificate is a separate credential from the CFSC/CRFSC, administered independently.
Course sittings can be less frequent outside the St. John’s area, and Labrador communities may need to travel or wait longer for a scheduled sitting — plan ahead if you are outside a major centre.
Plan your licence application
Most first-time adult applicants complete approved safety training before sending their application to the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program. Course completion is not a guarantee of a licence; the RCMP assesses each application.
